African Fashion British Design

Dovetailed London is a business that sells African wax print fabric, sewing patterns and sewing supplies. We also run workshops. The business was started when I was on maternity leave. I had previously practiced as a criminal barrister. I then spent a year undertaking a short course in textiles specifically: clothes making, tailoring, pattern cutting, decorative techniques and African fashion. The fabrics are made in Holland and Korea. I design all the sewing patterns myself with the fabrics in mind so as to best show off the beautiful intricate patterns. The fabric is made from 100% cotton and is printed on both sides of the fabric using a ‘wax’ resist method of printing that is similar to batik.
